Individual Therapy

PLEASE NOTE: Individual therapy appointments are via telehealth only on a HIPAA compliant audio/visual platform. Clients ages 18+ only.

  • With what do you help? I provide individual therapy to those who are struggling with a  wide variety of diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, adjustment, and PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) to name a few. Family and couple's therapy is not offered at this time but I do work with couple's/families during the perinatal period and couple's/families experiencing perinatal loss.

  • How can you help me? The vast majority of my interventions are rooted in solution focused brief therapy but I also utilize interventions from acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. The types of interventions I use will depend on each individual client. I also use a healthy dose of humor, when appropriate,  to help guide and encourage use of interventions and coping skills.

  • How long are our sessions? Your initial session is approximately 50-55 minutes and follow-up sessions are approximately 45 minutes.

  • How often do I need to see you? Ideally, we will schedule weekly sessions for the first few weeks and then move to biweekly and monthly check-ins. Frequency will change depending on need and progress. We'll discuss this together.

  • Can you guarantee I will get better? No, however, if you have a little motivation, openness, and willingness to try new things, you should notice some positive change in the right direction within 3-5 sessions. If not, we'll reassess your treatment plan and if I'm still a good fit or if a referral to another provider may be necessary. You are a big part of this process and journey. I can guide, encourage, and support you as well as help make changes to interventions and coping skills to fit your needs but ultimately, it is up to you to make the changes and implement what we discuss.

  • How long do I need to stay in therapy?  Some clients get what they need after a few sessions while others may need more. My goal for you is to get you on the right path- to be content and confident in your ability to handle whatever obstacles may come your way while knowing that you are able to find moments of happiness.

  • Is what I say confidential? I am bound by confidentiality; however, there are instances where I will need to break confidentiality in order to safety plan and/or alert the appropriate people and/or authorities. This is explained further on the Informed Consent, which you will receive during registration.

  • What is telehealth and how do you do it? As a client, you will have access to your own client portal. There we will use a HIPAA compliant platform for our audio/visual appointments.

  • So, since I'm doing telehealth, I can have our appointments when I'm out of state? No. I am licensed in the states of Ohio, Kentucky, and PSYPACT participating states. Thus, I am only able to do therapy with clients who are physically in those states during the appointment.

  • Are you "in network" with my insurance?  The only insurance I accept/that I'm "in-network," at this time, is Custom Design Benefits. Otherwise, I am considered an out-of-network provider.

  • How can I get reimbursed for our appointments if you're out-of-network with my insurance? Please check with your insurance regarding out-of-network mental health benefits. If your insurance offers this, I will provide you with a  "superbill," which contains all the information your insurance needs. You will then submit this superbill to your insurance as a claim. If your claim is approved, insurance will send you a reimbursement check or count a portion of what you paid towards your deductible. How much this is, if at all, will depend on your benefits. Again, it is on you to please call your insurance to verify benefits.
